Doha: Qatar's Abderrahman Samba, the 400-meter hurdles champion, praised the distinguished role of volunteers in the World Athletics Championships 2019 in Doha, which will kick off tomorrow in Doha with the participation of 2,000 athletes.
This came during his visit with his Qatari athletics teammates Abdalelah Haroun and and Bassem Hemeida for the volunteer recreation tent on behalf of their fellow champions who are preparing to participate in the championships.
The Qatari team was briefed on the amazing entertainment facilities of 5,000 volunteers representing more than 100 countries working 24 hours throughout the 10-day tournament to provide all facilities for Doha visitors in the upcoming tournament. 40 volunteers from all over the world were selected to work at the center during the tournament.
Samba said in a press statement that certainly these volunteers represent an important and influential element in the success of any event, while thanking them wishing them a success.
Gold medalist, Abdalelah Haroun, who won the 2017 London bronze medal in the 400m said that their preparations are good and the spirit of high enthusiasm and optimism prevail in the camp, and thanked the volunteers and praised their efforts in the tournament.
For her part, the Head of Volunteers Program, of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the IAAF World Athletics Championships Heba Mohammed Ali welcomed the champions in the volunteer recreation tent, praising this visit as a good gesture, adding that the volunteers are also a support for these champions and they are keen to serve the championship and its guests.
